The World Crave For Khaman Dhokla - Gujarati Recipe

Khaman Dhokla is a recipe from Gujarat prepared by baking soda, curry leaves & besan. The veg, snack recipe is an ideal dish for events like picnics & kitty parties. It is a common food item in almost every Gujarati households & is generally eaten as breakfast.

Ingredients for Khaman Dhokla:
Besan (gram flour)-1 cup
sugar-1 Tsp
salt-1 Tsp
refined oil-one tablespoon
mustard seeds-one teaspoon
water-2 1/2 cup
lemon juice-1 3/4 Tsp
baking soda-3/4 tsp
curry leaves-15
powdered coconut-1 teaspoon

For Garnishing:
Chopped green chilli-4
handful sliced coriander leaves-1

How to prepare Khaman Dhokla:
1) To make the tasty Khaman Dhokla, bring a glass vessel & drop lemon juice, baking soda, gram flour and water in it. Combine all the ingredients properly. Let the batter to ferment for one to two hrs or until it gets double. Meantime, pour boiled water in steamer  & grease the utensil using oil.

2) Pour dhokla batter in utensil & cook with low flame for fifteen to twenty mins. See for the knife after fifteen mins by putting it in the dhokla. If the blade is clean, then detach it from the stove. Let the dish cool & then cut in pieces.

3) For tempering, heat another vessel with oil in it with medium flame. When the oil is hot enough, drop curry leaves, mustard seeds & vertically chopped green chilli. Drop ½ water cup in a vessel & let it boil. On two to three boils, squeeze ½ lemon, add green coriander leaves & sugar. If you like it spicy, you could drop a few well chopped green chillies to top coating. You could also prepare Dhokla sandwich by layer Dhokla & including the sauce of your choice.

4) Switch off the heat & pour the tempering on Dhokla. Put the dish into a serving vessel & distribute it with green coriander chutney. Khaman Dhokla is best to have along with Jalebi & Fafda. Try a delicious snack anytime with your friends & family.
